LOUISVILLE, Ky.- The National Fastpitch Coaches Association recently released the 2025-26 Easton/ NFCA All-America Scholar-Athletes and teams list. Eight Big Red members were named All-America Scholar-Athletes, and the Denison softball team finished the 2025-26 academic year tied for 25th-best GPA, with a team GPA of 3.65. 

Earning the recognition this year for Denison were Andrea Care (Morrisville, N.C. Panther Creek), Leah Gershman (Katy, Texas Obra D Tompkins), Cassie Heinauer (Pittsburgh, Pa. Avonworth), Alex Longstreth (Carmel, Ind. Carmel), Stella Mix (Garrett, Ind. DeKalb), Natalie Omahen (Redondo Beach, Calif. Redondo Union), Brooke Surbaugh (San Bruno, Calif. St. Ignatius), and  Indy Workman (Greene County, Ind. Eastern Greene).

This is the second time Care, Longstreth, Omahen, and Surbaugh have earned this honor. Workman, a recent Denison graduate, earned the honor three of her four years as a Big Red. A total of 2,494 student-athletes from 196 institutions were recognized in NCAA Division III.

Denison finished the 2025 season with an overall record of 20-21 and made their first NCAA tournament appearance since 2012, after a walk-off by Surbaugh to clinch the automatic bid in the NCAC tournament.
