Cedarville, Ohio - The Denison men's cross country team placed fifth out of 24 teams Friday at the All-Ohio Inter-Collegiate Classic, hosted by Cedarville University, finishing amongst a stacked event across multiple divisions. Sophomore Will Jackson finished first for the Big Red once again, compiling a seventh-place showing. Three Big Red timed new personal bests in the stacked field.

How It Shook Out

• Sophomore Will Jackson led the Big Red, placing seventh with a time of 25:30.3. He set a new personal record, which was 25:50.8 at the Interregional Invitational last season.
• First-year Jack Blemker was next across the line for Denison, finishing 19th in 25:59.9. In his first two races of his career, Blemker has finished in the top-20 both times.
• First-year Aaron Escalante placed 25th with a time of 26:08.6, and senior Leo Wisnefski rounded out the top four, finishing 37th with a new personal best of 26:22.4.
• Sophomore Will Fontana placed 88th with a time of 27:08.1.
• First-year Olma Mathewos finished 107th in 27:18.2, and sophomore Sebastian Klimchak rounded out the scoring seven, placing 110th in 27:20.5, a new personal best.

Denison finished with 133 points, while Walsh won the meet with 54 points. The Big Red went up against one Division I program (Kent State) and seven Division II programs (Walsh, Malone, Ashland, Cedarville, Shawnee State, Central State, and Wilberforce).

Up Next for the Big Red

Denison heads to Bethlehem, Pa., on Friday, October 2, to compete in the Paul Short Run, hosted by Lehigh University.
