Denison Shuts Out Oberlin in Regular Season Finale

Granville, Ohio – Senior forward Jack Rice scored twice to lead Denison Big Red men's soccer to a 3-0 win over Oberlin on Saturday afternoon at Kienzle-Hylbert Stadium.

Rice opened the scoring in the fifth minute (4:11), finishing off a pass from sophomore defender Jackson Schroeder for his fourth goal of the season. Denison took that 1-0 lead into the break and out-shot Oberlin 7-0 in the first half.

Rice struck again in the 51st minute (50:16), scoring off an assist from first-year midfielder Lowen Jamison for his fifth goal of the year. William Hallis capped the scoring in the 80th minute (79:51) with his first goal of the season, converting a feed from sophomore forward Will Hunter.

Denison finished with a 15-6 edge in shots and an 8-5 edge in shots on goal, and held an 8-4 edge in corner kicks. Oberlin put five of its six shots on goal, all in the second half, but junior goalkeeper Ronan Kiter turned away all five to record the shutout, the eighth of the season for Denison.

The win is the Big Red's fifth straight, and Denison has gone 11 straight games without a loss. The Big Red improve to 10-1-6 overall and 6-0-2 in NCAC play.
Denison clinched the No. 2 seed in the NCAC Tournament and will host John Carroll in the semifinals on Thursday, November 5, at 7 p.m.
