PARIS, Ky.- For the second weekend in a row, the Denison women's golf team finished as one of the tournament's top three teams. The Big Red and Piedmont tied for third with a final team score of 622 at the Transylvania Kick-Off Classic. The Classic was a two-round, 18-hole tournament at the Houston Oaks course, and this year Rose-Hulman finished in second and Christopher Newport finished in the top spot with a team score of 619.

Round One (5601 yds | Par 72)

Sophomore Anais Oge opened the first round of the Transylvania Kick-Off Classic with a second-hole birdie and ultimately paced the Big Red in the opening round, shooting one under par (71), putting her in second place heading into the second day of competition. Teammate Lizzy Grant shot a score of 75 in round one for sixth place. First-year Jiyyaa Sharma found herself in team scoring position during round one after notching a 77, where she was tied for tenth. Rounding out the top four scorers was Natalia Fanucchi, who shot an 81 in round one for 22nd place.

Round Two (5601 yds | Par 72)

On day two of the Transylvania Kick-Off Classic, a lot of movement took place amongst the Big Red roster. Fanucchi moved up 15 spots after shooting a round two score of 73, which put her tied for seventh with teammate Oge, who shot a round two score of 83. Moving up nine spots across the two days was Tatum Platt, who tallied two more birdies on day two for a round two score of 79, putting her tied for 30th. Grant would round out the team scoring after she shot an 83 to finish tied for 14th place.

Up Next for the Big Red

Denison has a week off from competition, then returns to the road Monday, September 28, through Tuesday, September 29, for the Tartan Invitational, hosted by Carnegie Mellon. The invitational will take place in Farmington, Pa., at the Mystic Rock at Nemacolin Resort, where the Big Red and the field will play 36 holes in round one and then another 18 for round two.
