DANVILLE, Ky.- Recording its second tie of the season, the Denison women's soccer team finished in a 1-1 draw in its matchup against the Centre Colonels. The Big Red move to 2-2-2 on the season, while the Colonels move to 2-1-3.Â
In the first half, neither team could find its rhythm. Despite a scoreless half, the Big Red outshot the Colonels 6-0 and held a 1-0 advantage in corner kick attempts.Â
The Big Red opened the second half with sustained pressure, firing off eight shots on goal, before Josie Russell found the back of the Colonels' net in the 70th minute of play. Six minutes later Centre's Grace Plummer put in the equalizer, tying the game at one apiece. In the final minutes of play, Denison held off a late onslaught of shot attempts by Centre.Â
Denison outshot the Colonels 15-6 and held a 5-to-3 advantage. In goal, Josie Hau and Caroline Hague split time in the net, with Hau tallying three saves for the evening.
Up next for the Big Red
Denison hosts Ohio Northern University on Tuesday, Sept. 22, at 6 p.m. at Kienzle-Hylbert Stadium in Granville, Ohio.
