Granville, Ohio – The Denison Big Red women's soccer team earned a commanding 6-0 win over Kalamazoo on a Sunday afternoon at Kienzle-Hylbert Stadium, powered by a hat trick from sophomore forward
Lucy Perkins.
Denison broke through early, taking the lead 1-0 just 9:06 into the match when Perkins finished a feed from sophomore midfielder
Frances Shapiro. The Big Red kept pouring it on, and Perkins struck again in the 22nd minute off an assist from sophomore defender
Adeline Bohi to make it 2-0. Bohi added a goal of her own before the break, converting a pass from sophomore forward
Emily Stackhouse in the 30th minute to send Denison into halftime up 3-0.
The Big Red never let off the gas after the restart. Senior midfielder
Mattie Mielke extended the lead to 4-0 in the 47th minute off an assist from first-year defender
Neda Abedi. Two minutes later, Perkins completed her hat trick, burying her third goal of the match off a dime from first-year midfielder

Elle Kierce closed it out in the 79th minute on a pass from junior forward
Megan Mulvey, sealing a decisive 6-0 home win.
Denison outshot Kalamazoo 22-6, including a 12-5 edge in shots on goal, and earned four corner kicks while its trio of goalkeepers, sophomore

Josie Hau, and first-year
Claire King, combined for the shut out. The last time the Big Red scored six goals in a match was in 2024, when they shut out Hiram College 6-0 on Senior Day. Perkins now has four goals in her Big Red career, and the most on the squad.
With the win, Denison improves to 2-1 overall, while Kalamazoo falls to 1-2-1. The Big Red will next host No. 15 Johns Hopkins University on Saturday, September 12, at 12 p.m. at Kienzle-Hylbert Stadium.
