Indianapolis, Ind. (Oct. 5-6)- After a three-week break, the Denison men's golf team was back on the green to compete in the Wabash College Invitational. The invitational was a three-round tournament: 36 holes on day one and the final 18 on day two, with a course yardage of 6,904. Denison finished the two days with a team score of 887 (+23 | 296-296-295), for eighth place out of 16 teams; Kenyon College finished in the top spot this year with a team score of 846.

 

Round one (6904 yds | Par 72)

First-year Alex Sheehan paced the Big Red from the opening round, shooting one under par after recording two birdies. Fellow first-year Porter Howard was just behind Sheehan, who fired off five birdies to finish round one even. Jack Pelletier wrapped round one at +4 with a 76, and Ryan Toole rounded out the top four for Denison with a 77 (+5).

Round two (6904 yds | Par 72)

Some shuffling occurred in the top three in round two, with Pelletier taking the top spot for Denison and finishing the day at 71 (-1). He tallied four birdies to pass his teammate Sheehan, who finished round two at 72 (E). Howard finished third on the team with a 76 in round two (+4). Rounding out the Big Red team scoring was Toole, who shot a 77 (+5), bringing the team score to 592, placing Denison in seventh place heading into round three.

On day two of the Wabash College Invitational, Joseph Brasky had his best round of the weekend, shooting one under par (71 | -1), after sinking five birdies in round three. Sheehan completed his third invitational with the team's best score, finishing round three at 73 (+1) for 12th place. Howard would finished tied for 33rd with Pelletier after shooting 75 and 76, respectively. The Big Red wrapped up round three with 20 birdies. Will McCarthy played as an individual and finished tied for 55th after recording 10 birdies across the two days.

Up Next for the Big Red

Denison's final tournament of the fall season takes place in Greensboro, N.C., where the Big Red will compete in the O'Briant Jensen Memorial from Monday, Oct. 26 through Tuesday, Oct. 27. Hosted by Guilford College at the Cardinal by Pete Dye, the two-day tournament will be three rounds, with 36 holes across day one and 18 on day two.
