Gebhart, Palmer, and Rager Earn NCAC Athletes of the Week

CLEVELAND, Ohio - On Tuesday, September 29, Denison University logged its third week of the month and second consecutive in which the NCAC recognized three Big Red student-athletes with Athlete of the Week awards. Field hockey's Emma Gebhart and women's soccer's Ella Palmer were named Athlete of the Week in their respective sports, while football's Brian Rager was named Offensive Player of the Week.

Emma Gebhart | Senior | Field Hockey
Emma Gebhart played a crucial role in Denison's 1-0 overtime victory over conference rival Ohio Wesleyan, as she knocked in the game-winning goal in overtime. Gebhart led the Big Red in shots with five as she pressured the goalie throughout the game. The senior ended the week with an assist in the team's 3-0 win over Centre, helping extend the team's six-game win streak.

Ella Palmer | Sophomore | Women's Soccer
In Denison's 3-2 come-from-behind victory over Case Western Reserve University (RV), Palmer scored all three of the Big Red's goals. Palmer was 3-for-3 on shots and scored the game-winner with a bicycle kick off a cross in the 85th minute, giving Denison a 3-2 senior-day win.

Brian Rager | Junior | Football
Brian Rager had a strong outing in Denison's win over Ohio Wesleyan, leading his first come-from-behind game in his career. Rager accounted for 250 yards of offense on the day, passing for 209 while running for another 41 on the ground. The quarterback rushed for the go-ahead touchdown with 54 seconds remaining in the third quarter, and in the fourth quarter, he connected with Graham Tonkonogy for a 55-yard touchdown that would stand as the game-winning touchdown. Rager has thrown for a touchdown in three consecutive games, while Saturday was the second time this season he has both thrown and run for a score in a single contest.

Up Next for the Big Red

The football team ends the first half of its schedule on Saturday when they host (RV) Wabash College at 1:00 p.m. from Deeds Field-Piper Stadium, while women's soccer and field hockey are on the road this Saturday for NCAC contests. Women's soccer travels to Kenyon for a Noon ET matchup, while field hockey starts at the same time in University Heights, as they travel to John Carroll.
